The Rise of AI Voice Assistants: Balancing Convenience and Security

In this contributed article, Carsten Rhod Gregersen, CEO and founder of Nabto, discusses how ChatGPT is the final nail in the coffin for voice assistants as we know them. The likes of Siri and Alexa have struggled for years to penetrate the smart home market, with the latter losing $10 billion and cutting 10,000 workers in 2022. Now, generative AI is taking over the sector.

Brief History of LLMs

The early days of natural language processing saw researchers experiment with many different approaches, including conceptual ontologies and rule-based systems. While some of these methods proved narrowly useful, none yielded robust results. That changed in the 2010s when NLP research intersected with the then-bustling field of neural networks. The collision laid the ground for the first large language models. This post, adapted and excerpted from one on Snorkel.ai entitled “Large language models: their history, capabilities, and limitations,” follows the history of LLMs from that first intersection to their current state.

The Rise of Intelligent Apps in Finance

In this contributed article, Rohit Gupta, CEO and Founder, Auditoria.AI, discusses how the future of finance hinges delicately on the ability to adapt. Unfortunately, the finance department is often the last stop on the progress tour – and sometimes overlooked altogether. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) are two of the most common automation tools in corporate finance today. While both tools serve a specific purpose – RPA is programmed to execute high-volume, repeatable tasks, and OCR helps extract structured data in an automated fashion – as standalone solutions, they no longer pull their weight.

WormGPT – The Generative AI Tool Cybercriminals Are Using to Launch Business Email Compromise Attacks

SlashNext published a research report detailing a unique module based on ChatGPT that was created by cybercriminals with the explicit intent of leveraging generative AI for nefarious purposes. These research findings have widespread implications for the security community in understanding how bad actors are not only manipulating generative AI platforms like ChatGPT for malicious purposes, but also creating entirely new platforms based on the same technology, specifically designed to do their ill-bidding.

Power to the Data Report Podcast: The Math Behind the Models

Hello, and welcome to the “Power-to-the-Data Report” podcast where we cover timely topics of the day from throughout the Big Data ecosystem. I am your host Daniel Gutierrez from insideAI News where I serve as Editor-in-Chief & Resident Data Scientist. Today’s topic is “The Math Behind the Models,” one of my favorite topics when I’m teaching my Introduction to Data Science class at UCLA. In the podcast, I’ll discuss how in the age of data-driven decision-making and artificial intelligence, the role of data scientists has become increasingly vital. However, to truly excel in this field, data scientists must possess a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics.
