Advancements in artificial intelligence, or AI, are revolutionizing healthcare and leading to breakthrough results in prediction and prevention. AI has impacted a variety of industries already, but nowhere are developments in artificial intelligence more important than in the healthcare industry—they can be life-saving.
A new report from HPE focuses on how tech tools like GPUs and deep learning platforms are changing and advancing the healthcare industry. Recent advancements in AI technology have made it hard to ignore its potential to make health care professionals lives easier, as well as advance medicine.
Just imagine the amount of data that health professionals have to review manually before they diagnose or treat a patient. Today, HPC computing and massive parallelization are enabling doctors to derive meaning from all this data much more quickly and efficiently.
This explosion of computing power is helping healthcare professionals to “diagnose patients faster and more accurately, develop innovative new drugs and treatments, reduce medical and diagnostic errors, predict adverse reactions, and lower the costs of healthcare delivery for both providers and patients,” according to the report.
The technology behind AI advancements in healthcare, including graphic processing units (GPUs), have become key tools for deep learning and AI platforms, due in part to their parallel processing power.

The report explains that for healthcare professionals looking to deep learning workloads, powerful tools and modern IT infrastructures are key to success.
Deep learning platforms accelerate real-time insights, and to speed up innovation, NVIDIA has partnered with some of the largest technology providers out there, including HPE.
The report explains, “This partnership will guide customers through GPU technology integration with deep learning expertise, and drive unique customer value through joint innovation and solution design.”
The white paper highlights a variety of deep-learning systems from NVIDIA, including the NVIDIA CUDA programming model, NVIDIA Tesla GPU platform, and NVIDIA’s Volta GPU architecture; as well as HPE products such as the HPE SGI 8600 server and its Apollo 6500 platform.
As part of their enhanced collaboration with NVIDIA, the HPE Apollo 6500 now includes interactive rendering from the data center with NVIDIA Tesla GPUs.
And for those who are interested in learning more before employing the power of AI technology, the report outlines further resources like HPE’s Pointnext Services, which are a set of service offerings designed to enable and support AI and offer unparalleled deep learning expertise through a variety of advisory, professional, and operational services. And the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) offers training and educational workshops to help customers understand the potential of GPU-integrated computing for their data analytics workloads.
AI technology stands to make big changes in the healthcare industry. And as the field evolves, it is becoming increasingly important for healthcare professionals and businesses to invest in deep-learning technology. The new white paper from HPE and NVIDIA explores how the two companies are partnering to help the healthcare industry accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies.
