Recommendation Systems – How the World Suggests What You Should Watch Next

From the medical industry to the entertainment industry, companies are now investing in big data and algorithm software to collect and analyze analytics to enhance user and client experience. In fact, about 70 percent of organizations are investing heavily in big data and analytics and about half of them expect a significant or transformational return, according to a recent Bain survey.

One major entertainment company that heavily depends on big data to personalize user experience is Netflix. The Netflix personalization algorithms resets every 24 hours to ensure users discover new content based on their preferences an estimated 13,000 titles at any given time.

Big data and algorithms have made a substantial impact on modern society. Many companies are basing most of their moves on the identification of real-time information, like production companies who use big data to cut production costs. Production companies are not the only companies benefiting from these new technologies because entertainment is also changing. More and more people are expecting personalized services or recommendations, which includes entertainment. This is why Netflix has become such an influential entertainment giant. Netflix has been in the forefront of how their entertainment titles are presented to their customers.
