The practice of analytics engineering (made popular by dbt Labs) took the data world by storm last year as the novel approach changed how data professionals work. Today, dbt Labs officially launched the inaugural State of Analytics Engineering report. The report assessed the analytics engineering practice and gathered insights from those actively involved in the day-to-day of data.
Key findings include:
- 46% of respondents plan to invest more in data quality and observability this year— the most popular area for future investment.
- 71% of respondents rated data team productivity and agility positively, while data ownership ranked as a top concern for most.
- 42% of data practitioners say their top concern is data not being where business users need it
- Respondents said the most challenging aspects of data analysis were ambiguous data ownership and poor source data quality
