Elasticsearch announced today the Elasticsearch ELK stack, an end-to-end data analytics solution. At the same time, the company is introducing its first commercial product, Marvel, which will monitor Elasticsearch deployments in real-time, giving system operators transparency into the state of their deployments.
The Elasticsearch ELK stack consists of Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana – three open source projects developed by the engineers of Elasticsearch.
Thousands of organizations worldwide including Netflix, Yelp, Verizon, Foursquare, GitHub, Associated Press, SoundCloud, Facebook, and McGraw-Hill use Elasticsearch and the ELK stack for a variety of business-critical functions. From providing a high-performing end-user search experience for various music and video websites to powering the back-end of mobile apps, the Elasticsearch ELK stack is said to be quite versatile.
With the Elasticsearch ELK stack we have brought together three of the most popular open source products and have created an end-to-end solution,” said founder Shay Banon. “Now businesses can get actionable insights instantly without struggling to stitch together solutions from many different vendors. Behind the scenes, it’s incredibly complex, but we’ve done the work to make it simple for our users.”
The launch of Marvel comes on the heels of Elasticsearch announcing revenue growth in 2013 of over 400% and reaching six million downloads, at a pace of more than 450,000 downloads per month.
Being real-time is critical in the world of customer support,” said David Taylor, Senior Operations Engineer at Desk.com, “It is essential that our users’ issues are searchable immediately which is why Elasticsearch is such a critical component of our infrastructure. Marvel gives us a way to monitor our Elasticsearch servers in real time so we can stay in control and our users always have a great experience.”
Marvel is Elasticsearch’s first commercial product, and picks up every operating metric Elasticsearch exposes through its APIs. Marvel lets engineers see their Elasticsearch deployments in action, allows instant checkups, and provides historical data in context. Potential systems issues can be spotted and resolved before they become problems, and troubleshooting is faster and easier than ever before.
Pricing and availability
Marvel is free during development with production licenses that start at $500 per year for five nodes. Production licenses of Marvel are included free within our Development and Production Support services that give organizations access to the very engineers who built the Elasticsearch ELK stack.
