LinkedIn Releases State of AI @ Work Report

LinkedIn’s Economic Graph Research & Insights (EGRI) team released The Future of Work Report: AI at Work, a new quarterly report featuring current insights on the state of AI and the workforce, as well as analysis on how AI may impact how we work moving forward. Using LinkedIn’s powerful data infrastructure, the team is able to synthesize billions of data points from the company’s Knowledge Graph to uncover key economic trends that inform marquee reports such as this one.

Some highlights in the report include:

  • AI is accelerating significant shifts within the workforce, and professionals can expect their job responsibilities to change by nearly 65% by 2030 as a result of AI. Many professionals are already looking to expand their skill sets and leverage AI in their day-to-day.
  • Companies are already increasing their hiring of professionals with AI skills – in fact, in the last five years, the number of US members in “Head of AI” roles has nearly tripled (2.64x).
  • Although AI will certainly change how we work in our day-to-day, the proliferation of automation will make people’s unique soft skills even more important. In fact, 92% of US executives agree that people skills are more important than ever, according to our June 2023 US Executive Confidence Index, and since ChatGPT came out in November 2022, job postings asking for soft skills that complement AI (communication, professional ethics, social perceptiveness) have grown significantly.
