MapR Technologies, Inc., provider of the converged data platform that integrates the power of Hadoop and Spark with global event streaming, real-time database capabilities, and enterprise storage, announced that several MapR partners have integrated technologies with the MapR data platform and made them freely available for education, demonstration, and evaluation purposes via Amazon Web Services (AWS) Test Drive for Big Data. AWS Test Drives for Dataguise DgSecure, HPE Vertica, Apache Drill, and TIBCO Spotfire® are available now.
AWS Test Drives for Big Data provide private IT sandbox environments containing preconfigured server-based solutions. In under an hour, and using a step-by-step lab manual and video, customers can launch, login, and learn about popular third-party big data IT solutions, powered by AWS CloudFormation.
AWS provides a highly scalable platform where customers can easily spin up MapR clusters,” said Matt Lescohier, senior director of business development, MapR Technologies. “MapR is the only Hadoop distribution on the AWS Cloud that is available as an option on Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR), AWS Marketplace, and now via AWS Test Drive. These AWS Test Drive offerings add value for our ecosystem partners by showcasing the performance, reliability, and scale our combined solutions provide to customers.”
Dataguise Test Drive
Dataguise precisely detects and protects sensitive information to safely unlock the benefits of big data. Users can quickly and easily start-up a sandbox with MapR and DgSecure pre-installed and pre-configured. Users are taken through a tutorial of DgSecure that covers sensitive data detection, masking and encryption.
As more and more data is stored and consumed across the enterprise, it’s more important than ever to make sure personal and confidential information is identified and secured in the event of a breach or audit,” said JT Sison, vice president of marketing and business development, Dataguise. “AWS Test Drives are quick and easy ways for MapR users to experience the power of DgSecure to detect and protect their company’s sensitive data assets.”
HPE Vertica for SQL on Hadoop Test Drive
HPE Vertica’s comprehensive and fastest SQL analytics engine helps businesses explore and analyze the vast amounts of data stored in Hadoop data lakes. With this AWS Test Drive, users can create a functional three-node cluster and install Vertica’s SQL analytics database co-located within the MapR Hadoop environment. Users have four hours to evaluate and query Hadoop ORCFile formatted data via standard ANSI SQL statements.
The AWS Test Drive is a valuable tool for experiencing the power of SQL analytics,” said Chris Selland, vice president of business development, Big Data Platform Software, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “The HPE Vertica team works closely with MapR to deliver a comprehensive, tightly integrated, scalable, open-standards big data platform solution for our joint customers.”
Apache Drill and Spotfire® by Syntelli Test Drive
This AWS Test Drive demonstrates ease of querying complex data and discovering schemas on-the-fly with Apache Drill and finding business insights and creating professional looking dashboards using Spotfire. Sample data-sets and a demo are provided that highlight these capabilities in an interactive experience that involves a fully functional three-node Hadoop cluster and Spotfire.
We are proud to be a member of the AWS Partner Network (APN) and to have the opportunity to present MapR and Spotfire Test Drive on AWS,” said Rishi Bhatnagar, CEO, Syntelli Solutions. “With the help of our partners, Syntelli Solutions enables customers to get the right results from their big data at the speed of light. Leveraging our horizontal expertise in technology with our domain knowledge we are set to release more vertically specific AWS Test Drives that incorporate best practices and models in the future. Stay tuned for more!”
AWS Test Drives are developed by APN Consulting and Technology partners and are provided free of charge for education, demonstration, and evaluation purposes. Each AWS Test Drive includes enough free AWS server time to launch and explore these live solution stacks.
