Alteryx And Microsoft Join Forces To Accelerate Data Blending

alteryx-logoAlteryx Inc., a leader in data blending and advanced analytics, announced a new relationship with Microsoft Corp., to provide business analysts a better way to take advantage of data blending and advanced analytics that leads to deeper insights in hours, not the weeks typical of traditional approaches. Alteryx is the first company to enable business analysts with the ability to create analytic workflows that output datasets directly to Microsoft Power BI for consumption by a wide range of business users.  The relationship between Alteryx and Microsoft offers deep integration between Alteryx Analytics and SQL Server 2014 (also SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2008), and will now also work to enable future collaboration between Alteryx Analytics and other Microsoft analytics products, including many of the components of Microsoft Azure and the Cortana Analytics Suite.

Alteryx is dedicated to delivering a world-class data blending and advanced analytics experience for data workers that radically accelerates their time to insight,” said George Mathew, President and COO at Alteryx, Inc. “As the first analytics partner to work with the Power BI team, Alteryx brings a whole new way for line-of-business analysts to take advantage of their data by quickly blending it, performing predictive or advanced analytics, and then easily consuming it in Power BI to visualize and analyze everything in one place.”

The Alteryx Analytics 10.0 platform now enables data analysts to blend, model, and analyze data for consumption in Power BI.  With a simple, drag and drop workflow, Alteryx makes it easy to compile a complete dataset for use in Power BI, using various types of data sources (desktop, cloud, database) to reduce the overall time needed to blend it together. The Alteryx platform can cleanse, transform and enrich the data to create the perfect dataset, and then perform advanced analytics (predictive, statistical and spatial) to obtain deeper business insights.

We are excited with the momentum behind Power BI as we see more customers adopt it in order to explore their data in new ways,” said James Phillips, Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Business Intelligence Products Group. “Alteryx enables Power BI users to gain critical insights faster by easily blending data from multiple sources, adding advanced analytics through a drag-and-drop design environment, and then delivering the data into Power BI for visualization and analysis.”

In addition to the Alteryx Analytics and Power BI integration, Alteryx currently offers in-database blending within SQL Server 2014, so that analysts can blend multiple sources of data within the database, through an easy-to-use analytic workflow.  With in-database blending, the data remains in the SQL Server environment and Alteryx pushes the data blending process into the database, delivering faster results than traditional methods.  Alteryx also now integrates with Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Text Analytics capabilities to help analysts to understand the customer sentiment expressed in text data.

Additionally, data analysts will soon be able to take advantage of cloud-based data to perform data blending and advanced analytics with Microsoft Azure – including Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Microsoft Azure HDInsight. Future releases will also deliver deeper collaboration with Microsoft Azure Machine Learning.
